Because Miata is always the answer.
It may look like it was washed with sandpaper, but it's very clean and mechanically sound.

Have fun!!

What about the P71?

Miata words to describe how cool this is...

Well first a complete detail which shouldn't be too hard since I do it for a living. Other than that I want to go over it mechanically and fix anything that's wrong starting with a full tune up. Aside from basics, my friend who has that blue Miata has a spare head and i'm going to get it milled, ported and polished and then i'm going to do the exhaust cam mod.

Two of the same car?

For sale for the best offer closest to $2k.

I'll keep my Sable thank you.

No that's my friend's car. His is a 1990 and mine is a 1997. I'm making a big leap from a 2000 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor.

haha

As much as I like V8s, I'll keep my push-rod V6.

Ok. I need to have my car detailed on of these days, haha.
Any upgrades planned for it? The parts selection is so huge it makes my head hurt, so you can basically do anything you want with it.

As a member of the Miata family i would like to welcome you and shake your hand virtually good sir. Welcome to the obsession.

Duuuuuuude awesomeness!
![]() 12/27/2013 at 21:34 |

Yeah that's my main issue. There's so much choice. So many paths I can go down. As far as cosmetics I want a set of indicator intakes like these.
And I also want a set of summer tires and new rims. Probably something along the lines of Watanabe RS wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zeros
I also want to do a Eunos badge swap.
Also eventually I want to get some sort of supercharger.

*shakes hand. Thanks man. I can't wait to have my paychecks disappear into my engine bay.

Are you going to make it "stanced out" to the point there is several millimeters off the ground and the camber is nuts? (Please don't)
![]() 12/27/2013 at 21:37 |
|
Looks great! This is definitely on my list for a first car.
![]() 12/27/2013 at 21:37 |

I hear the Watanabes are incredibly expensive. Were it my Miata, I would use either...
Enkei Compe Classics, for that Watanabe look at a fraction of the cost, or...
Enkei RPF1's for that super low weight.
I fully endorse a supercharger kit. Also, any thoughts to headlight mods or a hardtop?
![]() 12/27/2013 at 21:37 |
|
Lmao no. I have taste. I actually like the wheels on it but only with the center caps removed. It's gonna look mainly stock aside from either blacked out indicator lights or the intake-style and a black hard top.
![]() 12/27/2013 at 21:40 |
|
Yeah I saw those Enkei Compes on tirerack and that's the look I'm going for. I just hate those ridges along the lip. I was never a fan of those RPF1's in the Forza games.

Thanks man! I wouldn't get it as a first car though. First cars are supposed to be cheap, reliable and slow. If you must have rear wheel drive then might I suggest a Crown Vic.
![]() 12/27/2013 at 21:42 |
|
Yeah..the soft top might not be trustable in a case of the high winds
![]() 12/27/2013 at 21:45 |
|
Well It's actually less than a year old and was never folded down so there's that :D .
![]() 12/27/2013 at 21:49 |

B-b-but the answer is always Miata. Isn't it?!
![]() 12/27/2013 at 21:52 |
|
........well it is cheap and reliable.......and sadly slow.....
![]() 12/27/2013 at 22:01 |
|
Oh yea you can easily blow them on the Miata. Unfortunately i have to pay for college so there is not much "tuning" money for me at this time
![]() 12/27/2013 at 22:51 |
|
Aren't Miatas cheap, reliable, and a bit slow (relatively speaking)?
Your first car can be fun. It doesn't have to be a dull, massive, thirsty Crown Vic, whose handling characteristics mirror a soggy futon.
God, the thought of DD one is making my eyes heavy.
![]() 12/27/2013 at 23:24 |

I disagree. I say get something unreliable and deadly while you're young, invincible, and have nowhere to urgently be responsible. Then after crashing that one, get something reliable and slow and boring.

Congrats! Hope you have lots of fun with it. Sporty convertibles are great. Got anything special planned for it?

Holy crap...from a land yacht to a go kart? Oh that must be heaven.

Actually you'd be surprised how well they handle.

Thanks everyone!
![]() 12/28/2013 at 14:54 |

No, I wouldn't.
I'm sure it's "acceptable", but you're not going to convince me that it's anywhere near sporty.
I've driven a Police Interceptor and it was a wallowy, frightening mess with mushy controls. Comfortable, but I doubt anyone looking for an engaging drive, first car or not, will derive much enjoyment from it. Especially since every Panther sold is an automatic.
Don't get me wrong. I'd love a Town Car to get me through LA traffic, but let's not be crazy. It's a cruiser. Nothing more. Not unless you're willing to pour a lot of time and money into transforming it into something it was never meant to be.
The Miata is an excellent platform to learn on. It's engaging, it comes in a manual, and it's not exactly quick enough to get the occupant in real trouble.

Two out of three ain't bad.
